This months reads

I had to return HP and the Deathly Hallows a few times before I could get through the first few chapters. I was HPed out. But I finally got through it this month. The first half of the book was boring for me. It picked up half way but I must say the ending was great.

I really liked Breaking Dawn. Yes, it needed a fight scene. I liked the twists the book had. And I would love to see a R/Jacob series. What do you think?

The Goose Girl was my favorite for the month!!!!! I was happily surprised. I purchased it in the afternoon and was done by midnight. The imagery was amazing. The storyline perfect. It never got boring. I cried and laughed.

I just picked this one up at the library. Have you heard of it? This is a preview copied from the back of cover:

"How have I been lucky enough to come here, to be alive, when so many others are not? I should have died... But I am here.

1945. Surviving the brutality of a Nazi prison camp, Marta Nederman is lucky to have escaped with her life. Recovering from the horror, she meets Paul, an American soldier who gives her hope of a happier future. But their plans to meet in London are dashed when Paul's plane crashes.

Devastated and pregnant, Marta marries Simon, a caring British Diplomat and glimpses the joy that home and family can bring. But her happiness is threatened when she learns of a communist spy in British intelligence, and that the one person who can expose the traitor is connected to her past...

In this dramatic follow-up to the bestselling Kommandant's Girl, Pam Jenoff writes of a time of uneasy peace and rising paranoia, when love and desperation could make liars of us all."

Read an excerpt from the first chapter!

I love seeing what you are reading! I just started the Harry Potter series at the beginning of the month. I am on book 5. Haven't gotten to Breaking Dawn and actually am not that excited about it.
When we first moved in a 13 year old girl down the street talked to me about how she loved to read. Ever since then I am always hearing her suggest the Goose Girl to people because it is her favorite. I'm glad to hear that it is not just or little girls. Maybe I will have to check it out.
I have never heard of that last book. Make more posts like this one. I am always looking for good books to read. I have a list a million miles long, but it is always nice to add fresh ideas to it!

Did you read the first one by that Paul author (I already forgot what it was called, by the time I clicked on this page). Its Kommendants daughter?? The follow up book sounds interesting!

I agree with Collette. I love posts where people tell me what they have been reading. All mine would say at the moment is that I just reread all 4 books in the Twilight series. Boring and typical. I think I'll have to check out the Goosegirl. I read Austenland by Shannon Hale and really liked it. Thanks for sharing!

To answer your question, I just got a Nikon D40 about a month and a half ago. (You can pretty much tell when I did because the pictures started getting better quickly.) I got it at Inkley's and they throw in some photography classes that I've been going to. I'm loving it!

Never heard of Goose Girl, but it seems like we have similar taste in books, so I'll check it out. You have me motivated to start the HP series. Is it still good even if you have seen the movies?

I had some problems with the last Harry Potter, but really loved the scene where he is walking through the woods to meet Voldie (cry every time). And in defense of the length, JK Rowling wanted it to choronologically follow the other books (ie. the normal length of their school year, so half a year in a tent).
I found the last Twilight book very satisfying. I hate when main characters die (maybe my issue with HP), although she totally took the easy way out of that mess. And I do not want to see a book about R and Jacob, can't stand him. Although I thoroughly enjoyed his chapters in the book (except the last one, creepy), and those were the funniest chapter titles ever.
Ok, now Goose Girl, you must read the two follow ups to that, they are better than GG, they are called 'Enna Burning' and 'River Secrets', also by Shannon Hale and fast reads.

Why aren't you on my Good Reads list?
